PEI International Shellfish Festival @ Charlottetown Event Grounds | Charlottetown | Prince Edward Island | Canada

Every September, competitive shuckers, celebrity chefs, music lovers and a host of shellfish fans gather in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island for four days of festivities, all built around the Island’s superb shellfish industry. Hosted by Prince Edward Island’s food ambassador, Chef Michael Smith.

First the shellfish – Lovers of oysters, mussels, lobster and Prince Edward Island Potatoes will be in shellfish heaven with countless tastings and culinary demos all weekend.

Next the chefs – Chef Michael Smith is returning this year and we couldn’t be more excited! Don’t miss Feast & Frolic – a first-class, four-course meal presented by the Culinary Institute of Canada. A brand new menu has been designed especially for you by Chef Michael & the Culinary Institute team!

The competitions: Cheer on oyster shuckers as they race the clock. Get up close and personal as top chefs go head to head. And we bet you have never seen a mussel line tying contest – now is your chance! Shuckers and chefs come from around the world to compete for a grand total of $24,000 in prizes.

And the party! – Think Irish and Scottish style fiddlers, some raucous Celtic-tinged rock & roll, maybe a little bit country, or some thoughtful Atlantic singer/songwriters.
