The Event Coordinator Certification is based on the National Occupational Standards. The certification includes registration, written exam, and work experience verification. The required experience for this program consists of 1500 hours of work experience in the occupation, with at least 500 hours in the year prior to being certified.

The Event Manager certification includes National Occupational Standards and Certification Prep Pack. Certification for this occupation includes three core components (an exam, requisite experience and a performance evaluation). The exam consists of 100 questions based on the National Occupational Standard for Event Manager (version 2.0). Required industry experience consists of a minimum of 1500 qualified hours within the past three years. Candidates must also be emerit certified as an Event Coordinator. The performance evaluation consists of an interview with a qualified evaluator and is based on the National Occupational Standards for Event Manager (version 2.0).

The standards within this emerit training program were written and validated by international industry experts. Internationally endorsed Event Managers plan, implement, and evaluate a wide variety of events and functions.
The certification process requires 5,000 hours of relevant event management experience within the last five years. Applicants must also pass an industry-endorsed knowledge exam, and submit a portfolio of events. Successful candidates will be awarded the Certified Event Management Professional (CEMP) designation.
Professional Certification includes National Occupational Standards and Certification Prep Pack. Certification for this occupation leads to the Certified Event Management Professional (CEMP) designation, and includes three core components (an exam, requisite experience and a Portfolio of Evidence). The exam consists of 125 questions and is based on the Event Management International Competency Standard (Version 1.0). The exam contains a mix of independent and case based questions, and includes multiple-choice and short answer formats. Required industry experience is 5000 hours. The Portfolio of Evidence requires the candidate to describe how they have planned, implemented and evaluated a specific event, as well as provide supporting evidence and professional references confirming the candidate’s role in the event management process.
