PEI Bluegrass and Oldtime Music Society
The PEI Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Society is an incorporated, non-profit, organization founded in 1985. We have our own by-laws and are not affiliated with any other society or organization.
The objectives of the Society are:
• To foster Bluegrass & Oldtime Music in the province of Prince Edward Island.
• To assist and promote greater proficiency in the musicalskills of the membership.
• To ensure that the basic human rights of all individuals are respected.
• To supervise and carry out a Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Festival.
An elected Board of Directors is empowered by the membership to look over the affairs of the Society . The Board appoints an Executive Committee (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) is appointed to take care of the day to day business of the Society.
The Society newsletter "Pick & Licks" is mailed out quarterly to all members and along with the websites and the Communications Committee, they help to keep the membership informed and up to date on Society and other related events and matters. You can also find a current membership form on the newletter page.
The Society also has a Library which is a valuable resource available to all members.
Members enjoy the fellowship surrounding the jamming (participating and/or listening), concerts, special events and the Annual PEI Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Festival held at Dundas Fair Grounds ...... the first full week-end in July each year.
The Society has various committees in place, which often call on members for assistance. We encourage all members to get involved and help out in various society projects.
